James dedicated an impressive 32 years of service to the company before retiring in 1997. In addition to his corporate endeavors, he also pursued his love for farming for over a decade, showcasing his diverse interests and unwavering dedication.

He served as a firefighter for the Florence Fire Department from 1955 to 1972, eventually becoming the chief for three years. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life.
