John Gresch Obituary, Death – John Charles Gresch, 74, of Elmwood Park, Illinois, passed away on December 14, 2023. Many loved John as a brother, friend, and uncle. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on April 27, 1949. John’s reputation for being extraordinarily helpful to his numerous friends, neighbors, and cousins dates back as far as anyone can recall. Through mentoring programs, he committed himself to improving the lives of troubled youth.

John was also an active member of the political community, contributing his knowledge to many campaigns he believed would advance his ideals. He was also a handyman and a rock and roll band performer, so his versatility, love of music, and talent were evident. John had a wide range of interests outside of his career. He delighted in spending numerous hours engaging in competition and socializing with fellow Bocce ball players.

Fishing was another hobby that made him happy and relieved. John also enjoyed playing friendly card games with the people he cared about in his life. Thomas John, the brother of John, and Karen, his sister-in-law, are members of the Gresch family of Otis Orchards, Washington. Both his nephew Thomas John Gresch II of Otis Orchards, Washington, and niece Amy Katherine Mason of Liberty Lake, Washington, regarded him as a dear uncle.

The “Elmwood Park” family held great affection for John and his “nephew,” Joey Krzysczak. John and Joey’s bond was distinct. John’s mother, Martina Mary Mahoney Gresch, and father, James Joseph Gresch, departed this life before him. Their loved ones will always remember them with the utmost respect. The Elmwood Park Community Center, 4 Conti Parkway, Elmwood Park, IL, will hold a memorial service honoring John’s life on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 6–9 p.m.

Family members will have the opportunity to get together, pay tribute, and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual.
